Two questions about the pledge of allegiance

After reading the article, The strange origin of the pledge of allegiance and this wikipedia entry about the pledge of allegiance, I have two questions.  First, do you find it troubling that it was written by a socialist?  Second, does the phrase, “one nation indivisible” support a federalist view over a more conservative idea of states’ rights?

The old way to salute the flag looks eerie today

  1. I do find it troubling that the pledge was written by a socialist and that it puts federal rights over state’s rights; this seems to be congruent to the purpose of the founding of this country… access to elected officials as corruption will happen regardless. The more removed politicians are from the populace, the more they abuse it.
